Introduction

  About International Health and Nursing Administration Undergraduate Program

 The program is provided by the Department of Health Care Management at NTUNHS, aiming to provide comprehensive training courses concerning managerial professional development on health and nursing administration. This program also set its focus on broadening students’ horizons of medical knowledge and skill of hospital management, and on cultivating students’ research capacity and leadership in health care and nursing program. With qualified health and nursing administration specialists, we have accumulated abundant teaching experience and distinguished research accomplishment which can fulfill your needs of being a health and nursing administrative professional. The students will obtain the “Bachelor of Science (BS)” degree from the Department of Health Care Management after the four-year program (including a non-hands-on hospital practicum) is successfully completed.

  Histrory of DHCM

    The Department of Health Care Management, established in 1994 with a two-year undergraduate program, aims to promote practice and research in the field of health care management, and to provide students with training pertaining to the management of health care and health enterprise. Starting from 1999, the MSc. program majoring in health care management was lunched in this department, and a 4-year undergraduate program was initialized in 2008. Students who graduate from this department are expected to serve as a middle-level health care administrators.

  Teaching Objectives

This program focus fundamental training in health administration and we also requires students to integrate theory and practice, so that graduate students can use the administration knowledge and skills in the hospial management.This program also ask students’ horizons of medical knowledge and skill of hospital management, and on cultivating students’ research capacity and leadership in health care and nursing administration program.

 Faculty

All our 11 faculty members graduated from prestigious universities in Taiwan and US, and with encompass expertise in various health care management disciplines including health finance management, organizational communication, hospital administration, nursing administration, assessment of healthcare quality, health enterprise management, health policy and administration, public health practice, health care epidemiology, and medical statistics. There are now 1 Full Professor, 6 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, and 2 Lecturers affiliated with our Department.

 Career Opportunities

After graduation, students are expected to be an E3 individual, i.e., good proficiency in English, skillful in Electronic facilities, and with Entrepreneurship. With knowledge of healthcare research and experience of practicum, students who graduate from this department may engage in a variety of careers at both public and private sectors in healthcare industries including medical institutions, long-term care facilities, public health agencies of government, medical equipment and facility companies, pharmaceutical companies, and health management institutions. Graduates are also qualified to be evaluated for various certificate awards such as hospital administrators, project managers, research assistant, and health policy managers.

 Future Prospects

With a profound experience in teaching and research over the past two decades, we are ready to develop a further program leading to the doctoral degree in this department. This program will offer students in depth study in a selected area of health care management. The aim is to train students to be with leaderships in healthcare industries.
