Program overview

 

  Curriculum

  The curriculum of this department is organized by taking into account students short-term and long-term career development and the diversity of health care management disciplines. In addition to the core courses that are central to the development of health care management skills, the curriculum also incorporates five cooperative programs with medical and healthcare institutions to enhance students capabilities in establishing their career in a real world. A variety of teaching equipments, facilities, and resources are provided in our teaching, including the health data laboratory, the health informatics laboratory, and the health environment laboratory. Various statistical software, computer equipment, and secondary data analysis and management software are available for students and faculties in these laboratories.                    

  4-year International Health and Nursing Administration Undergraduate Program

  Students registered in the 4-year undergraduate program must complete 128 credits in order to be award International Health and Nursing Administration Undergraduate Program degree. The program is provided by the Department of Health Care Management at NTUNHS, aiming to provide comprehensive training courses concerning managerial professional development for licensed registered nurses who seek advanced knowledge on health and nursing administration. This program also set its focus on broadening students’ horizons of medical knowledge and skill of hospital management, and on cultivating students’ research capacity and leadership in health care and nursing administration program.

With qualified health and nursing administration specialists, we have accumulated abundant teaching experience and distinguished research accomplishment which can fulfill your every need of being a health and nursing administrative professional. The students will obtain the “Bachelor of Science (BS)” degree from the Department of Health Care Management after the four-year program (including a non-hands-on hospital practicum) is successfully completed.

  2-year Undergraduate Program

Students registered in the 2-year undergraduate program must complete 72 credits in order to be award a BA degree. Courses provided in this program include general knowledge courses and compulsory core courses. A number of elective courses are also provided. There are currently 5 sub-programs available for students: health enterprise management, health insurance management, healthcare quality management, and life enterprise and health informatics. Students are encouraged to register in any of these sub-programs, and a certificate will be awarded to those students who may successfully complete all requirements of the sub-program(s).

  4-year Undergraduate Program

Students registered in the 4-year undergraduate program must complete 128 credits in order to be award a BS degree. Courses provided in the 4-year program include general knowledge courses and compulsory core courses of health care management. A number of elective courses are also provided. Similar to the 2-year undergraduate program, the 4-year program also provides 5 sub-programs available to the students who are interested in certain specific sub-program.

  Master Program

To be successfully awarded a MSc. degree in healthcare management, a graduate student registered in this 2-year master program has to complete a total of 39 credits including 33 credit courses and a thesis of 6 credits. Compulsory courses(12 credits) comprise research methodology, advanced biostatistics, healthcare organization and management, and seminars on healthcare management. A broad range of elective courses(21 credits) are provided to enhance the students proficiency in three fields including clinical healthcare research, community health, and health institution administration. Under advisors supervision, graduate students are expected to complete their thesis through the following efforts: identify a research topic, to design the study, to select appropriate samples, to collect data, and to perform data analysis incorporated with pertinent interpretation of the results.
